At Urban Physical Therapy, our mission is to help active adults and athletes of all ages do the things you love, without limitations. We work with you to build strength, mobility, and resilience not just to get you out of pain, but to help you move with confidence and perform at your best, both now and in the future.
We created UPT after years of practicing in an insurance-driven system that set limits on time, goals, and treatment. Here, your goals drive the plan and your progress shapes the process. With our fitness-forward approach and three-step system—Root, Restore, Reload—we work with you to uncover the root cause of pain, restore normal function, and reload tissues so you can move better, get stronger, and return to the activities that make you feel most alive.
Eric earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. He holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Eric's approach to patient care is collaborative and evidence-based. By working closely with each of his patients, Eric gets to know them on an individual level. This familiarity and rapport allows Eric to identify goals that are meaningful to each patient. And then Eric develops a progressive treatment plan designed to support a patient's long-term recovery, performance, and resilience. He tailors treatment sessions to each patient's evolving abilities and needs, with a focus on integrating movement, strength training, and manual therapy.
For Eric, supporting his patients as they navigate their own rehab journey will always be an honor. He remembers being a physical therapy patient himself, eager to get help that would alleviate his shoulder pain and get him back to competing with his collegiate baseball team. He also remembers being a physical therapist in traditional clinical settings doing his best to squeeze all patient care within thirty- or forty-five-minute sessions that always seemed to fly by. Drawing on those personal experiences, Eric opened Urban Physical Therapy in 2018 with the goal of offering his patients hourlong appointments and more personalized care. Throughout it all, he's been fortunate enough to treat great patients in Chicago, Eugene, and now Ithaca. What drives him each day is a simple goal: Helping his patients overcome injuries while staying active and doing what they love.
"Eric has helped me continue to do the activities I love. He is a highly skilled PT. In my case he has been especially insightful at identifying areas of weakness and imbalance that affect my performance of equestrian activities. He has educated and trained me on effective strength and mobility exercises. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Robinson for physical therapy services."
